comfortable in its bushland setting

A Natural, Textured Home Designed to Blend Seamlessly With Its Landscape.

The owners requested a new build that celebrated the natural character of their environment. They wanted:

  • A strong emphasis on natural materials

  • Warm, organic textures used both internally and externally

  • A design that visually integrates with the surrounding grey gums and native wildlife

  • A cohesive look and feel throughout the home, with timber as a core feature

  • Functional family spaces with a relaxed, timeless style

Key Design Focuses

Connection to Landscape
The home needed to reflect its surroundings, using a materials palette that mirrors the colours and textures of the bushland environment.

Durability & Warmth
All material choices needed to be long-lasting, low-maintenance and naturally inviting.

Cohesive Interior–Exterior Flow
Timber was used as a unifying element to create consistency between outdoor spaces and internal living areas.

Design Approach & Solutions

Use of Spotted Gum Throughout
Spotted gum was chosen as the hero material across external cladding, porch, deck, vanities, barn door, entry (Genkan) area and custom shelving. Its rich tones complement the surrounding landscape while adding warmth and character.

Stone Feature Elements
Stone cladding was added to both the façade and a key internal feature wall, bringing visual weight and texture while tying the home firmly to its environment.

A Soft, Organic Material Palette
Natural colours and tactile finishes were carefully balanced to create a calming, grounded interior that transitions effortlessly into outdoor living spaces.
